Seeing Beyond Limits: Marcy’s Journey To Joy

When Marcy first began to lose her vision to macular degeneration, fear and uncertainty set in. Tasks that were once simple became daunting, and the world seemed to grow smaller by the day.

Everything changed when Marcy connected with CPWD’s Beyond Vision program. Through a combination of Independent Living Skills Training, white cane training, and mental health support, she discovered not only how to adapt — but how to thrive.

At CPWD, Marcy found more than practical tools. She found community, confidence, and connection. The Beyond Vision program provided hands-on experience and peer support from others who truly understood what she was going through. Slowly, the fear faded, replaced by a renewed sense of purpose and joy.

Today, Marcy lives a happy, independent life filled with friends, laughter, and hope. Her story is a reminder that losing vision doesn’t mean losing independence — it can mean seeing life in an entirely new way.

🎥 Watch the video below to hear Marcy share her story in her own words and discover how CPWD’s programs empower people with disabilities to live fully, freely, and independently.
